The Honey Factories · Schedula

Before you begin

This information stays on your device, except the harvest point, if you request the elevation profile: in France, your browser sends IGN (Géoplateforme) the line of the profile, centred on this point, in the chosen direction and extent; if IGN cannot provide the profile, it then requests map squares covering this line from the public Terrain Tiles repository of Amazon Web Services (United States); elsewhere, it only requests these squares, without the point. Nothing is sent to The Honey Factories or saved by this page: neither the point, nor the direction, nor the extent. All of it disappears when you close the page.

The Honey Factories · A conservatory of rare honeys

Schedula

Describe a honey sense by sense, then its circumstances. Answers are offered in lists, so that two sheets can be compared. Only the name of the honey is required; whatever you do not know can stay blank. The table fills in as you go.

Record header

A sheet may carry the beekeeper's name at its head. The Honey Factories then appears only at the foot of the page, with the reference to the method.

Identity
The name on the jar. A protected name (Miel de Corse, Miel de Provence…) only if your label carries it.

Carnet III · Genius loci

The spirit of place

Landscape and relief
The one around the apiary.

Worked out from the harvest point, or entered by hand.
Harvest point

Show where this honey was harvested: your device's location, or coordinates. The point is used only to draw the elevation profile, to take the altitude of the apiary from it and to check that it lies in the chosen country. When the profile is calculated, in France the line of the profile, centred on this point, is sent to IGN (Géoplateforme); if IGN cannot provide the profile, map squares covering this line are then requested from the public Terrain Tiles repository of Amazon Web Services (United States). Elsewhere, only these squares are requested, never the point itself. The coordinates do not appear on the sheet; the point is cleared from the page as soon as the profile is drawn.

Direction of the profile

Choose the direction and extent of the elevation profile around the apiary.

The vertical scale adapts to the relief, so gentle ground may look steeper.
